I am a little over half way through this novel. I started to read the book because I am interested in historical fiction, but I have become engrossed in the book for more reasons than that. The book is about a young girl, Alessandra who is growing up in Florence during the late 1400s. The novel begins during a period of time when art and religion are abundant.
